I am an owner of a Humminbird Piranha Max 10 sonar with S/N 4011203-0214. The unit has, since it was installed in the boat, been set to display depth in Meters, and temperature in Celsius.
In the late summer, I was out boating and watched the display readings every now and then. Immediately after arriving at the destination, I shut down the engine and turned off the 12 V mains switch in the boat, like I always do. Thus, the sonar was also switched off, like always.
A few hours later, when I was about to leave for home, I turned on the mains switch, and started up the engine. After a short distance, I also turned on the sonar, which to my surprise now suddenly displayed depth in Feet, and temperature in Fahrenheit. This seemed strange, since the unit had never behaved this way before. All previous contrast and chart speed settings, and such, had also been lost.
For some reason, I am now unable to access both the Language and Units settings in the Setup menu. I have disconnected the unit, reconnected and restarted it, but these two menus just aren’t there anymore! I am aware that these menu items are available only in the International version of the Humminbird Piranha Max 10, but that is exactly the version I own! In the Setup menu, I can switch between Contrast, Fish ID+, Bottom View, Battery Alarm, and then I’m back at Contrast again. Language and Units are nowhere to be found.
I have tried to find answers in you FAQ section at the humminbird.com web site, as well as various discussion forums on the Internet, but I still do not know what has happened, and what to do about it. I want my sonar to display depth in Meters; can anyone help?...
