using the fax as a telephone

I recently sent a fax successfully. I wish to use the fax as a telephone but when I lift the receiver there is no dial tone and I get a message on the screen of 'on line 00:00'. How do I get rid of this? Has the fax machine I sent to not 'hung up'??...

Problem sending a fax

When I try to send a fax I keep getting 'TX ERROR' over and over. What is acusing this? Can anyone help? Machine works ok otherwise....
